The all-new Chevrolet Equinox hit a winning chord in the Automotive Science Group’s (ASG) 2018 Automotive Performance Index™ (API), demonstrating the capabilities of Chevrolet’s new crossover platform. With an EPA estimated 32 MPG highway (26 city/32 hwy/28 combined), the Equinox outperforms competitors in class by an average 4 MPG highway, significant fuel economy gains that reduce fuel costs in the crossover segment, earning ASG’s 2018 BEST ALL-AROUND PERFORMANCE Award.

ASG’s all-around performance analysis is a comprehensive data-driven assessment, analyzing economic, environmental and social performance indicators across a vehicle’s life-cycle, and in relative comparison to all competitive vehicles in the market.

The Equinox earned a class leading all-around performance rating in ASG’s Study, outperforming the average vehicle in its segment by a whopping 19%. The Equinox lead notable competitors including the Ford Escape and Hyundai Tucson with a 6% advantage, and the Kia Sportage and Honda CR-V by 8% and 9% respectively.

The Chevrolet Equinox leverages an efficient 1.5 Liter 4 cylinder turbo engine to deliver fuel efficient transport in the crossover segment, without the need for advanced powertrain components. In fact, the Equinox light weighting strategy gives it an average 17% weight advantage across the segment, coming in at 633 pounds lighter than the average curb weight in class. Less resources translates to reduced environmental footprint, increased operational efficiency and reduced life-cycle operating costs.
